HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DRIVE THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD? On an inland highway, a 245km drive would normally take 2.5-3 hours. However the Great Ocean Road (GOR) is an entirely different proposition, for several reasons. Speed limits are low – usually from 60-80km/h – the traffic is often heavy, and safe overtaking opportunities are very few.
X6jxl. From Melbourne to Port Fairy along the Great Ocean Road will take about 7 hours of driving non stop and longer depending on how many stops you have. Melbourne to Torquay is 1.5 hours. Melbourne to the 12 Apostles is about 4.5 hours ( 275 kms ) non stop driving along the Great Ocean Road, less if go the inland route via Colac.
Location: 10km from Lorne via Erksine Falls Road. Walking distance: 500m return. Walking time: 10 minutes. Difficulty: Easy. Erksine Falls are certainly the most famous of the waterfalls on the Great Ocean Road. The beautiful waterfall tumbles 30 metres down into a lush valley.
Construction first began on the Great Ocean Road on the 19th of the 9th, 1919. There was a walking track connecting Eastern View to the rest of civilisation and it was turned into a road and population dramatically grew. Now, Eastern View is a beautiful and sought after spot for a holiday home and has dozens of incredible villas in the hills.
How long does it take to drive to the 12 Apostles from Melbourne? The 12 Apostles are 275 kilometres from Melbourne, so about a 4-hour drive along the Great Ocean Road. This leg has SO much to see, that you would be crazy to miss what the Surf Coast, Apollo Bay and the Otways have to offer along the way.
